About Nanning

    Nanning, known as "Yong" for short, is the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Situated in the south-central part of Guangxi, the city faces Southeast Asia, backs on the vast southwest of China, adjoins Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to the east, and borders the Beibu Gulf to the south. It serves as the region's political, economic, cultural, educational, scientific, technological, and financial center. As the permanent venue for the China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, Nanning enjoys the reputations of "China's Green City" and "the place that folk songs linger." The city has won the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honor Award and is recognized as a National Civilized City, a National Ecological Garden City, a National Model City of Double Support (support for the military and preferential treatment for families of revolutionary soldiers and martyrs), a National Healthy City, and a National Forest City. Currently, six ASEAN countries have set up consulates general in Nanning. The city is also home to several national-level open platforms, including the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanning Area, the Land-port Type National Logistics Hub, and the China-ASEAN Information Harbor Nanning Core Base.
